A day in the life of a kennel guest…
Life in the kennel has a definite pattern. 7am toilet break and play. Then breakfast and a short rest. Then supervised group-play for as long as you like. Then rest. Then play. Then rest. Then play… repeat until supper. After supper, play. Then rest. 9-9:30pm toilet break. Then sleep.
Pens are comfortable and semi-private. Everyone can hear and see each other, but not touch each other.
Beds are provided, though you’re welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
Food and water bowls are provided. (Please bring your own slow-feeder if needed.)
All group-play is supervised by Steve, who provides the strong and kind leadership of the pack’s alpha. Your dog’s playmates will be chosen based on the behaviour they exhibit. Energetic dogs play with energetic dogs. Dogs that prefer to sniff at things and relax are placed with similar dogs.
Will my dog fit in with other dogs?
I strongly encourage first-time guests to come for a meet ‘n’ greet and/or a day of daycare before they stay overnight. This gives you – and your dog – a chance to see the facility and meet Steve.
Dogs need gentle introductions to new environments. That’s why I always structure meeting other dogs to be as stress-free as possible. That means giving the new dog time to explore the place before meeting the pack. It means allowing the new dog to be off-leash when they meet a new dog. It means introducing them to only one dog at a time. It means constantly watching their body language to read their comfort level.
With successful first meetings comes the confidence to join the pack in play. And every dog does this at their own pace. My job as alpha is to make it as easy on the new dog as possible.
